Stella McCartney Spring 2016
What delights we can see at the recent Stella Spring 2016 show held in New York this week. Vibrant colours, never seen before animal prints and clean cut geometric styling. Such a wide range of clothing within one collection is typical of Stella McCartney, and this time certainly isn't an exception.
As soon as I saw this incredible collection, the one that caught my eye was the shirt and trouser combo pioneering the use of animals as a print. The wild cat repeated on a silk black shirt contains some beautiful dyes, made to look almost Aztec or even slightly psychedelic. As we all know, silk is a fine fabric for the use of colour, the combo really brings out the unique qualities of the silk; who can resist that soft weightless fabric on your skin in the Spring breeze?
From one extreme to the other, highlighting exactly how versatile Stella' designs are, is that of the rigid cut, block coloured almost business like garments. I have seen an increasing amount of sleeveless suite jackets appear on the scene recently, Stella has adopted this idea in a way that really mirrors what I think when I here the name 'Stella McCartney'. this particular piece seen third from the right expresses that modern tailored style, yet the twist comes in the tunic type cut, allowing that little bit of leg.
Perhaps a gateway to Summer, a long flowing shapeless maxi dress is the way forward. The type of bohemian cut, colour and fabrics are coming back in. I should imagine ( like most of Stella' work) you would need a confident stride to properly wear the garment, but with a collection like this...I
don't think anyone could resist.
